CHARACTER
NAME: Ruby Rose
CANON: RWBY
CANON POINT: End of volume 6
AGE: 17
BACKGROUND: Here

PERSONALITY:
ENTHUSIASTIC: The first thing most people notice about Ruby (...or the second thing, if she awkwards through their first encounter, which is very known to happen) is that she's basically a cheerful bundle of energy. She does get more serious as the series goes on and as the story's stakes get ever higher (they're now trying to save a world from a threat they can't kill, oops) but in spite of her darkening circumstances and the way things keep getting more and more serious Ruby maintains her enthusiasm and joy throughout. Even with the darker tone of the series in Volume 6, Ruby always finds something to smile or laugh about, and she's still the girl who messes around with her friends and has hope and generally does her best. It's why her friends follow her, probably.

DETERMINED: It's harder at some points than others, but she is by far the hardest person to keep down in-series, always getting back up whenever she takes a hit emotionally or physically. Losing Penny and Pyrrha were the earliest and hardest hits (discounting her pre-series loss of her mother). Beyond that? Her sister lost her arm, her friend group fractured, and they seem to be fighting a losing battle. Despite all of that, Ruby never gives up - ever. The only thing that kept her in one place for any amount of time was a coma, and after that she got better and immediately moved on to the next step. She's the person who best fought off the "apathy" Grimm (which made everyone not care about anything) on her own for the longest, keeping the team moving and freaking out when she almost did give in, even before her silver eyes started to kick in to defend her, and Ruby is almost always the one who ends up moving forward when other people stall out.

AWKWARD: Despite being friendly and enthusiastic as fuck, Ruby is awkward around people and on record as finding learning about new weapons being better and easier than meeting new people. While she's improved somewhat, Ruby can be sort of a social mess. She's leagues more comfortable in battle or doing things than being tossed into parties or new social situations without some sort of buffer of known friends or her sister. She rambles, she's clumsy, she's not at all the confident person she is in battle - more sort of a spaz who needs to chill the heck out, or occasionally (at a school dance) a wallflower who would rather be doing something she deems fun and/or useful. Despite being awkward, she isn't really bad at people - she just overthinks social things sometimes, or feels uneasy about it. In general, Ruby is one of the better characters when it comes to interpersonal relationships as time goes on - she has to put in effort, yes, but she always does put in the effort.

IMPULSIVE: She's slightly better about impulse than she was at the start, but Ruby is still very much a think-with-your-heart sort of person a lot of the time. She moves before she thinks about it, and she's rash at times and definitely needs the less-impulsive influence of the other team members of RWBY from time to time.

INTELLIGENT: While she starts out pretty naive (she's still innocent to a degree, but she's being world-checked more and more often as time goes on even though it hasn't impacted her sense of hope), Ruby is actually intelligent. She's not really great in class at the start because she's not one to sit still, but after an argument with Weiss she realizes she has to buckle down and study and she does so. Ruby's always had a really good battle sense, and she's relied on by her team to come up with battle plans on the regular - and she does that, calling out attacks and strategies and always coming through in a pinch. She does like to read, but even so her smarts tend to be tactically/battle oriented, and she has worked on those a lot. She had missteps with learning how to work with others at the start, but she's a lean, mean, teamwork machine by this point of her life.

GENUINE: Ruby isn't a person who lies (well or often), and she is at her core very kind. She doesn't seem to hold any sort of differences or quirks against other people and she is endlessly accepting of her friends and family. While there are things and people she definitely can't forgive, Ruby is pretty welcoming and trusting on the whole with people she likes, and she likes people easily. She's even decided that Weiss Schnee is her best friend despite frequent cold treatment, and tends to look more at people's actions than their words sometimes - even if she does listen to their words.

LEADER: Above all else, Ruby is the team leader of team RWBY. She has grown into the role as time has passed and she has matured, because initially it was a little bit of a rough start - but now? Ruby's still learning, but she is very much a person who others follow in-series, and she knows exactly how much responsibility being the leader actually is. It isn't all fun and games (or even mostly fun and games) and she's determined not to lose any of her friends ever again.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
AURA: In the world of Remnant "Aura" is the manifestation of one's soul. It's basically latent magical ability in terms of other worlds, and can be used as a barrier or to power up attacks or other abilities. Aura is also sort of a level of how much energy a character has left - if their Aura is depleted entirely, they're basically KO'd.

SEMBLANCE: In Remnant, a Semblance is a unique manifestation of one's aura. Basically it's your personalized superpower. Ruby's Semblance isn't specifically named but is referred to as "Speed" in early episodes. It basically allows her to burst into rose petals and move at blinding speeds, seeming to teleport or simply move in a gust of petals, cinematically. She is able to pick up other people and objects while doing this, and it even provides limited flight capabilities while she's moving fast enough, although she can't currently actually fly or anything - it basically serves to make her a blindingly fast opponent able to maneuver in mind-bending ways, so that's fun.

SILVER EYES: Silver-eyed warriors are this mystical group we're still learning about in RWBY. Currently, Ruby is the only active one we know of who still has her eyes. Silver Eyes can turn Grimm - in-universe monsters - to stone, blind them, or vaporize them according to a former silver-eyed warrior.

WEAPONSMITHING/WEAPONS: Like all students at her former academy, Ruby built and maintains her own weapon - a scythe/gun combo. She's clearly comfortable with weapons and how they work. In addition to being a proficient scythe-user, she's very proficient with guns and sniping - she's less competent at hand to hand combat but is actively working on getting better as of Volume 6.
INVENTORY:
0. Current costume (wearing)
1. Crescent Rose (her sniper-scythe)
2. Relic of knowledge - a lamp with a genie (powerless for Prismatica, just a lamp).
3. Scroll, basically a phone.
MOONBLESSING: Sanguis because wolf themeing.
